Our History and Timeline.

Q4 2019

Founder Scott Frye and Co-founder Steve Green launch first 60-bed Alliance Reentry Center home for men in Bessemer, Alabama, with participants paying their weekly program fees from wages earned at their good-paying jobs at Alabama auto plants such as Mercedes and Honda. 

Q4 2020

First home for women opens in Bessemer, Alabama.

 

Q1 2021

First ReentryApp prototype launched in test mode.

 

Q4 2021 

Chairman & CTO Jay Whitehead and CEO & CFO Jerry Washburn join the company and establish the Board of Directors with additional board member and immigration law publisher Sam Udani, and raise a seed round of venture capital to retire the startup company’s debt.  Company rebranded as ReentryCenters.com.

 

Q1 2022

$4 million funded via a “pooled direct” EB-5 equity offering.

 

Q2 2022 

14 homes owned with 282 total beds.  ReentryPay.com mobile banking app launched

Q3 2022

 $15 million funded via a “venture debt” offering.  $16 million “serial direct” rural EB-5 equity offering launched.  EB-5 “expedited processing” petition filed.  Highly-scalable ReentryApp.com alpha version for Alabama users launched.  ReentryTalent.com licensed to select agents to secure large-scale nationwide second-chance employer services relationships with auto plants and other large non-exempt employers. 

 

Q4 2022

$30+ million “regional center” rural EB-5 equity offering launched.  ReentryApp beta version for nationwide users launched.   Via company brand Reentry.Media, Reentry Leaders Conference announced for Summer, 2023 at U of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Newsletter launched.

Scott Frye

VP Reentry Industry Services

Scott Frye serves as VP Reentry Industry Services growing the company’s reentry industry partner community.  He used his experience in investment banking and direct experience in the criminal justice system in Alabama for found the original ReentryCenters concept and built the prototype for the ReentryApp.  He is a U.S. Army veteran, and has owned and sold various internet properties. 

Steve Green

EVP Property

Steve Green serves as EVP Property growing the company’s real estate portfolio, and is a seasoned investment banker and real estate entrepreneur.  He was in muni and private placements at Merrill Lynch, institutional at Jefferies and arbitrage at Bear Stearns.  He acquired Air Methods Corporation, the largest “Lifeflight” and “Mediflight” company.  He later focused on trucking with Asaache, Polar Express and Burlington Motor Carriers, then Duraswitch, which was acquired by Delphi, alongside over 100 other private equity and merger deals.  Since 2010, he has focused on his single and multi-family real estate portfolio. He holds a BA from UCLA.

Jay Whitehead

Chairman & CTO

Jay Whitehead is a serial entrepreneur who has led 18 startups and managed 6 successful exits in IT, HR services, media and social enterprise, and raised over $500 million in venture capital, EB-5 capital and private equity.  His first tech boss was Steve Jobs, who he helped launch Apple’s Lisa Computer in 1983.  He co-founded fintech app developer League Network PBC, which was acquired by the company in 2021.  He holds a BA from UCLA and Strategic Finance Certificate from Harvard Business School.  He is a dual citizen of US and France, married with 3 children and has completed nearly 100 marathons.  

Jerry Washburn

CEO & CFO

Jerry Washburn is a veteran CFO and CEO of public and private energy, computer hardware and software companies.  He spent 11 years with accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Company, culminating as engagement head at Georgia Pacific Corporation. He has served on the Boards of Blue Sun Energy, HercuTech, Emissions Technology, AmeriFirst Foundation and OneSource Technologies. He holds a BS in Accounting from Brigham Young University.  Since 1994 he has spent his free time as B-17 and B-25 flight crew member with the Commemorative Air Force, based at Airbase Arizona.  

Sam Udani

EB-5 Compliance Officer

Sam Udani is the founder and CEO of law publisher ILW.com, home of Immigration Daily.  ILW has published over two dozen immigration law books and held hundreds of immigration and EB-5 events internationally.   For the past 20 years, he has been a Board Member of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Refugees.org, which he has helped grow from $12 million to $450 million in funding. 

Mike Farrell

Chief Culture Officer

Mike Farrell is a reentry counselor with 20+ years of accomplishments in the Christian drug and alcohol recovery field and prison ministries.   His experience spans all facets of the reentry industry and includes 15 years as Director of The Foundry Rescue Mission and 4 years as the Foundry’s Reentry Program Counselor, as well as long stints in Re-Entry Resident Program Management, Alabama Alcoholism and Drug Counselor Certified Staff Training and Mentoring, and Bible Study Leadership.

Syed Junaidi

Controller

Syed Junaidi is the company’s corporate controller, with responsibility for financial reporting via Netsuite.  He has 5 years’ experience as Senior Finance Manager at Zyppah, Inc., and accounting roles at Allied Wallet, Saudi Steel Profile, Danube Co., and PWC Saudi Arabia.  He holds a BBA from Bangalore University and an MBA from California Lutheran University.

 Lisa Weiss

VP Revenue Services

Lisa Weiss oversees the accuracy of invoicing and collection efficiency as well as training the Program Directors on ReentryApp invoicing, ReentryApp collections and Reentry Rides fare-capture.  She has been with the company since its inception in 2019.  Prior to joining the company, Lisa retired from Verizon after a 20-year career where she worked in sales, handled executive complaints and was an implementation coordinator for orders placed by the Board of Prisons and the FBI.

 Rich Haggerty

Product Manager

Rich Haggerty manages the company’s web and mobile native application developments and product adoption.  Rich was one of the first employees of fintech and League Network PBC, which was acquired by the company in 2021.  Prior to League Network, Rich served in sales roles at ALFA Development, Altice, and Allstate.  

Matt Merrill

VP Program Direction

Matt Merrill heads the company’s growing crew of professional Program Directors who manage admissions, ReentryApp, ReentryPay and Reentry Phones onboarding and on-site reentry services. Matt earned a BS in MIS from Auburn University, interned for a circuit court judge in Anniston, Alabama, and then earned a JD from Birmingham School of Law and passed the Bar. While Matt is no longer a member of the Alabama Bar, he continues to advocate on behalf justice-involved individuals.

Brent Parris

Chief Demand Officer

Brent Parris works in tandem with Founder and VP Industry Services Scott Frye to drive company partner support for ReentryCenters.com.  Brent has nearly 20 years’ experience in the criminal justice system, and earned both a Bachelors in Industrial Management and MBA from Jacksonville State University while in the system.  In addition to significant management skills, Brent is also a freelance scriptwriter for film, TV and streaming platforms.

Justin Minggan Wei

EB-5 Investor Relations

 Justin Wei leads the company’s international EB-5 investor relations campaigns.  As a media entrepreneur, he built the largest social network among Chinese student in top-tier US universities, which built on his communication and data skills employed at Powell Tate PR, Weber Shandwick, Harvard Law School and MassDOT.  He is currently completing his two-year Data Sciences Masters degree at Harvard University. He attended Chinese University of Hong Kong, American Institute for Roman Culture, and holds a BA from Northeastern University.

 Baker Tilly’s EB-5 team provides consulting services—specializing in economic studies, business plans, regional center operational plans, and TEA analysis.
